Captain Jan

Captain/Cruise-guide/Journalist Jan Blom is the only real Amsterdammer on the editorial team.

Educated to be a photographer/filmmaker, but his love for boats and sailing has marked his career. From King Crab fisherman in Alaska to crewmenber on Greenpeace's legendary original 'Rainbow Warrior' and skipper on his own cargo ship; he spent most of his active life on boats.

Semi-retired from a life of aquatic adventure, he now entertains his passengers on exclusive Canal Cruises in Amsterdam with tales of the city's past and present. His Canal Journal (in Dutch with a small English section) comments on current developments on local waterways.
