Hotel Backstage Amsterdam

Backstage Hotel is one for those who like to rock. Aimed at people in the music industry and with a rock 'n' roll theme carried on throughout the hotel, the atmosphere is, as the name suggests, like being backstage at a venue. You don't have to be in a band or have a VIP pass to get into this Backstage though. As with all Leidseplein hotels, the Backstage Hotel is right in the centre of Amsterdam's nightlife; music lovers will be near popular venues Melkweg and Paradiso, as well as Bourbon Street blues club and more bars than you could shake a drum stick at.

Location
Visitors can get to Leidseplein by taking trams 1, 2 or 5 from Centraal Station. From here, walk south towards Vondelpark and take a right onto Marnixstraat. A quick jaunt along here will bring you past Melkweg's café and gallery and across the first canal you meet, Leidsegracht. Backstage Hotel is clearly visible on the corner, the entrance can be found on the right hand side; just ring the bell.

Dining
While Backstage Hotel does not offer a restaurant of its own, simple cooking facilities are available for those who would like to rustle something up for themselves. With such a central Leidseplein location, there are dozens of places to eat nearby that are worth checking out, and the hotel staff will even help you order take-out if you wish. For refreshments other than food, the Backstage Bar with pool table and games is open for guests 24 hours.

Rooms
The hotel has 22 rooms with 60 beds, and promises an unconventional stay in each due to the unique interiors. Rooms are available in single, double / twin, triple, quad and quint varieties, so whether you're a solo artist or a big band you can find accommodation to suit. Backstage Hotel is proud of its rooms design, with the hotel's own Flightcase Furniture throughout, theater mirror and ceiling lamps made from snare drums. British sockets, LCD TV, PAR-Ambiant bedlight, iPod docking station, alarm clock radio and safe all come as standard too.

Hotel Services
Backstage Hotel offers free wireless internet access to its guests as well as an internet station in the bar. There is 24 hour reception as well as 24 hour residents' bar. Luggage storage and cots for babies are available on request at no extra charge. Backstage Hotel does not have elevator so be prepared to climb the typically steep stairs found throughout Amsterdam. The hotel is completely non-smoking.
