Black Tulip Hotel Amsterdam
An elegant old townhouse house on the very edge of the Red Light District, 8 minutes walk from the Central Station: Black Tulip Hotel is not marked in any way, merely at the door bell there a hotel’s name and the opening hours of the hotel’s reception. The hotel’s full name is: Back Tulip - the Leather & Art Hotel. Black Tulip is a gay hotel, but it welcomes all guests.
Location
Black Tulip Hotel is located in a Dutch monumental 17 century house at Geldersekade, a canal street near the Amsterdam China Town, at the very edge of the Red Light quarter and in a short walking distance from the Central Station.
Hotel Services
The hotel’s full name is: Back Tulip - the Leather & Art Hotel. A real boutique hotel, where design mix with personal taste and a truly unique service.
Rooms
Black Tulip has only 9 rooms, 7 of them are decorated in a Black Leather Theme popular among gay men, some of them with SM equipment. All rooms are different (and their price differs), but they are all very clean, with good sheets, comfortable king size beds, modern bathrooms with top quality fixtures, a flat screen TV, DVD player, safe, telephone and a minibar. More expensive rooms will give you a taste of luxury. Several rooms have a canal view.
Breakfast is served on the big, long table in the exquisite hotel’s lounge, which serves also as the kitchen and the office. You may have it between 10-12am, which is a perfect idea if you are not in Amsterdam for business (on weekend days even 10 am – 1pm!). There is a gorgeous choice on the table, but you may feel yourself at home and take the food from the big fridge. WiFi Internet is free. The hotel has also a computer for your use in the lobby.
Dining
Black Tulip Hotel does not have a restaurant, but there are many dinning opportunities next door with a restaurant of reputation called Vermeer nearby (Prins Hendrikkade 59-72) and many budget restaurants within a short walk in the Red Light District.
The feel
This is a truly boutique hotel, beautifully decorated, immaculate in the way is run and for a budget price. It is managed by two friendly men - Onno Tang and Jürrich Segers, who live on top floors above the hotel rooms. Staying at this private hotel is like being their guest. Black Tulip is not cheap though, in any possible way. Excellent value for money and unique experience even if you are not gay, but just a tolerant, open minded person.
The Black Tulip Hotel is not suitable for children.
Cancellation policy: Black Tulip is a small hotel, which does not advertise and intentionally stays private. If you cancel your reservation later than 14 days before your planned arrival, you will be charged for the cost of your first night stay.
