Himalaya Bookstore Tea-House Amsterdam

Himalaya Amsterdam bookstoreHimalaya, a Bookstore and Tea-house, is an ideal retreat for anyone who desires a spiritual experience. Located between the busy streets of Red Light District and the Dam, Himalaya creates an ambience described as an Oasis by its many happy customers.

Their main entrance from Warmoesstraat invites you into the biggest spiritual bookstore in Holland. Offering vast New Age literature in both Dutch and English, their genres range from Self Development, Religion, Astrology and Health to name but a few. Though selling books is their main service, it is also possible for you to have a Palm or Tarot reading on their premises.

On your journey past a collection of books, Buddha statues, minerals and gift presents for sale, you will find yourself at the Tea-house at the back of the store. Furnished with wooden tables and chairs, Himalaya exudes an atmosphere that tempts you to stay on their neutral grounds at length.

The Tea-house is set upon a 'steiger,' a platform above the canal, which you can walk across to reach the back entrance. It is evident that water has a divine significance within this mystic arena, as seen through the water features within. Together with an spiritual soundtrack, it has the effect of relaxing and soothing the individual.

The decor creates a harmonious haven for you to unwind in. Hindu and Buddhist statues decorate the interior, as Cherubs hang from the ceiling, reflecting a diverse religious and spiritual influence.

Himalaya's Lunch menu is available all day, offering Homemade Soups, Salads, Tapas, Bagels, Cakes and Sweet Pies. All their food is of course 100% Vegetarian, nothing but good quality ecological vegetables and herbs are used in their cooking.

Favourites amongst their menu are the Mexicana Tosti, Himalaya Goats Cheese Salad, and their famous Banana Cream Pie of 20 years, bought to you at your table by one of their spirited waitresses. All meals and snacks are remarkably priced between 1.50-7.50 Euro, and healthily nourishes the mind body and soul.

Whether you are looking for a nice place to read, relax or enjoy a meal pleasing to the stomach, then Himalaya welcomes you into a world you have yet to experience.
