Amsterdam Area Guide
Our guide divides the center of Amsterdam into seven distinct areas, where most
of the city sights are contained.
The Oude Zijde and Nieuwe Zijde in the very heart form the medieval city of Amsterdam, while Museum Quarter is a modern part where the city's most important museums are located (Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk, Van Gogh). In between lies the Canal Ring (shaped by three city-long canals of Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht, Herengracht), which hides many nice sights and important spots. While the part to the city's right, Plantage, is home to the botanical and zoological gardens.
