Shelter Hostel City, Amsterdam
The Shelter City hostel is located right in the middle of the oldest part of the centre of Amsterdam, an easy 7-minute walk from Amsterdam's Central Station. The hostel is close to all the main tourist attractions, like Dam Square, Madame Tussaud's, Rembrandt's House and most museums.
Sleeping (single sex)
The Shelter City has a total of 168 comfortable beds in dorms. There are separate dormitories for men and women, each of them divided into sections containing four to eight beds. Bathrooms are on the each floor. In addition to dorms, the hostel also has rooms for 4, 6 or 8 persons.
International backpacker's meeting point
The hostel's café and courtyard with its fish pond are great places to hang out and meet fellow travelers.
Please note ...
The café and the dormitories are non-smoking. Smoking is allowed in one designated area of the hostel and in the courtyard. The hostel opens every morning at 7.30 am until curfew at 2.00 am - no late arrivals. Most suitable for age group: 16-40.
Rates
Rate per person in a big dorm is from 16,- EUR in off-season to 18,50 EUR in high season. Included is a warm or cold breakfast, locker (upon fully refundable deposit), bathroom, luggage storage. Bed linen charge is +2 euro. The rooms with 4, 6, or 8 beds are available with prices between
19,- EUR for low season to 23,- EUR for high season.
Location
The best way to find the hostel is to look for Nieuwmarkt - the hostel you will find on one of the side streets leading from the square. When referring to the oldest part of Amsterdam, that means in the middle of the Amsterdam's nightlife. Fairly, if you prefer to stay out of the Amsterdam's very rush, you might favor Shelter Jordaan.
