+ Close to station & art gallery, selection of food at breakfast good compared to most hotels in Amsterdam of the same price range, fairly quiet, lots of seating in restaurant.
- A bit tatty all round really, could do with a bit of paint and some maintenence doing. Staff could be abit more helpful, luggage store not very secure, quality of food at breafast not that great.

+ Not expensive in comparison to the high staired/often smelly rooms/toilets available in Amsterdam. I havnt seen them change a staff member for the last 2 years-and they are all nice people. Breakfast is a rugby scrum...but once again very good honest value for money.
- Rooms looking a bit tired these days...not a problem for me(still better then home!) but will give others the chance to moan about an otherwise value for money desination.

+ I have been coming back to The Botel for several years now and would not go anywhere else. They have been friendly, helpful, spotless and accomodating each year. First class service. A+

+ It was near the centre and the location on the canal was nice --
- This Botel was in need of upgrade-- Plugs broken --cigarette burns on the Tv- the en suite was way too small for comfort and it was very basic--My first room that i was alocated was smelling of smoke so bad that i refused to take my clothes out of my case and had to get another room Was not impressed at all with it although the staff were extremely freindly and helful-- Too expensive for what we got-i would have rather paid more for a decent hotel--i would not reccommend it at all and would never be back-sorry but comfort means every thing when on holiday Donna hendeson

+ kind and polite people in the reception the place Botel is situated
- small bathrooms- hose from shower took all the space due to wrong mounting- cleaning in the rooms very critical even the soap dispencer was so dirty, no vacuum cleaning practly only change of towels and plastic cups, and making bed, we changed room while the first was filled with smoke all night from other rooms (room 151) awfull. I have been staing on the Botel 10 times at least and it is getting worse.... Breakfirst buffet: cheese hard in all edgess (to old cut) only hard boiled eggs...why doesent you check what is left on the plates youre carring out, and simply do it better, do not ruin good food by using it wrong.

+ The greatest "plus point" were the staff, who without fail, were polite, charming and helpful. We asked questions about museums etc, which I'm sure they've been asked thousands of times before and they were always very happy to help. The choice at breakfast was good. The rooms , and indeed the whole hotel were very clean.
- Due to the size of the rooms, the bathrooms were a little cramped. Perhaps an additional toast machine and tea coffee machine would ease some of the crowding at peak times during breakfast.

+ Extremely nice receptionist who very kindly and efficiently organised early check-in. Staff in general were very friendly.
- We had a canal room view which was on the lower ground so not much of a view but extremely noisy with the walkway you have and so got very little sleep.
