+ only the location
- the bathroom was so tiny there is a drain in the middle and a shower nozzel on the wall and that is the shower. No shower curtain. the furnishings are filthy parking is by ofsite valet service only and you cannot retrive your car before 8 am without penalty the stairs to the quad rooms are so steep that is is difficult to carry luggage.

- Very dirty bedroom. Bedroom overlooked graffiti daubed yard where vagrants slept at night. No breakfast facilities. Extremely steep stairs would make it unsafe and very difficult to evacuate in the event of a fire. I have stayed in better low cost hotels in third world countries.

+ Really friendly employees. Our room was nice and clean. Hotel has a perfect location as it is even closer to everything than Central Station.
- The lack of breakfast, stairs are hard to walk with luggage.

+ Great location. Great amount of space. Nice having a kitchen.
- Very narrow stairs. No hot water. This particular room on the second floor is directly above a night club called Hot Spot. Every night was very noisy and the floors shook. Also every morning around 9:30., the bar empties it's bottles very loudly. This was a problem on this floor, but friends staying above me did not seem to hear these noises. Also, there was a very strong smell of sewage soming either from the appartments above or from the canal across the street.

+ Way too many to even list. I loved this place, loved the space and loved the location. You need to be a little self-sufficient since the idea is that you have your own place in Amsterdam, and are not catered to by any staff. However, when I needed something, the front desk was always helpful. Here, also you are in close proximity to all of the major sites. I would stay here any time in Amsterdam. Slept like a baby, and loved the canal views.
- The only thing that bothered me really was the lack of hot water pressure. Sort of agaonizing for a bath person to have that beautiful bathtub and then not have enough hot water to fill it. Also, the jaccuzi part did not work. Also, no dryer to go with the washer. Stairs are woefully steep and not for the faint of heart. Also, be very careful carrying any luggage up these stairs. Dangerous. However, all minor points when you consider we were not stuck in a shoe box for four days.

+ The hotel is very centrally located in Amsterdam, with some rooms facing out to the Amstel river. It is clean and pretty quiet. The staff was very helpful and accomodating of our late check-in (11:00pm). They also have a computer available to acess the internet for guests.
- As with most hotels in older buildings in Amsterdam the stairs are very steep and there is no elevator, so be aware. The building is also a bit crooked, meaning the floor slopes slightly. This definitely adds to the charm of the building, but can be a little disoriently when you first get out of bed.

+ Very central. Polite and friendly staff. The room was comfortable and good value.
- The stairs are definitely not for the faint-hearted, but when Reception is open the freindly staff oblige by carrying luggage for you.

+ The other hotel where we actually stayed was much better than the Amstelzicht.
- The hotel was overbooked when we got there, noone even bothered to call us and warn. So when we got there we even had to fight for them to offer the cab to the other Hotel which was quite far away.
