Individual hotel reviews

+ Really friendly staff, very comfy beds except our bed was 2 twins pushed together - kept falling down the middle. We found the rooms to be clean and the room was big enough, neither of us felt that the room was too small. Location is excellent and we recommend a walk round vondelpark if a little bored at night.

- the only thing i can possibly think to put here would be the lack of plug sockets, however we did have stereo, hair straightners, fan and TV. the room was also a little too hot for my other half but the window was opened further for us as soon as we asked.

+ good location and service from the staff, the teve was good with many channels and the volumelimit was smart.

- we were staying in the basement and it was very humid, if you had the windows open to get some air it felt like people could easily climb in thriugh there from the smokingarea. between the curtains and on the side of them you could look in from the outside, the bathroom got fileld with water after 1 minut in the shower. It was very noisy from the breakfastarea and the floor above.

+ good value, great location, has exactly what you need for a short stay.

- Breakfast could have more variety. You should also have snack machines, cigarette machines and drink machines so people can buy stuff.

+ Staff very friendly and hotel very clean and neat, breakfast-more than adequate

- The steep & narrow stairs - Carrying my luggage up 3 flights was quite tough.

+ Good breakfast.

- Small room, steep stairs with no elevator, small bed, TV did not work. Too expensive for a room with no shower.

+ The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

- Our room (rm. no. 401 on the top floor) smelled of stale smoke and the bathroom smelled worse (bad drains/sewage)! The beds were uncomfortable and we had mosquitos (in April). In summer, I think it would be very hot up there in the attic and you'd get eaten alive by mosquitos. The whole hotel is in bad need of a re-fit.

+ The members of staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is really well located-with very easy access to restaurants, museums and coffee shops, without having lots of pedestrian traffic going past late at night.Breakfast was unusual but good(cold meats, cheese, fruit and salmon,as well as the usual toast and cereal, freshly made omlettes),and as it was self service you could have as much or a little as you liked.Would go back again but maybe next time go for the larger double or deluxe double room if feeling flush!

- It would be easy to list negative points, which taken in isolation, would put people off staying here, so I won't do that - the reality is that this is a very reasonable hotel for the price - yes, the room we had was small, but it was advertised as being so.If you want somewhere to lay your head, shower and take a crap...be provided with a decent breakfast and head off to explore the delights of Amsterdam you'd probably find it hard to do better than this hotel without forking out quite a bit more money.
