+ The location is great. Eventhough the hotel is very close to the central, the neighbourhood around the hotel is safe and quiet. There're trams and bus stops right in front of the hotel. This is great coz I didn't know anything about traveling in amsterdam but I could manage to go around the town and have a lot of fun.

+ Overall I quite liked this hotel. It had a very good breakfast with lots of choice. Reception staff were always very friendly and helpful. Good security in the hotel as it had card access rather than keys (including to make the lift work). Very close to everything and easy to find but far enough away from the more shady areas of town not to feel unsafe walking back in the evening.
- Was a little bit pricy but that seems to be common in Amsterdam. We had a group of four and found it was better value to get a quad room than two rooms.

+ Hotel staff were warm and welcoming. Breakfast is better than other Amsterdam hotels in which we have stayed. This is our second stay at the Avenue and will stay there in the future.

+ Quality Location
- i think the only minus point is that the room we stayed in 312 is not really designed in being a quad room as the two single beds are up in the roof and only Accessible by a ladder that is very steep on not screwed in very well so after a few drinks it's hard work to get up and if you need the toilet in the night its a nightmare....

+ Location is absolutely wonderful. Room was extremely clean and comfortable. On subsequent days we awakened in time for breakfast which was very nice. Front desk staff was helpful and friendly, and even booked a taxi for our departure. Will definitely stay here again in the very near future.
- After our first night in Amsterdam, our group of friends slept until 1 pm and missed breakfast! Of course that is not the hotel's fault! Seriously, though, we cannot identify any minus points.

+ Very convenient location, walking distance from Amsterdam Centraal station, shops and museums. Non-smoking rooms available, and clean. General service level was good apart from breakfast.
- In 2007 we noticed cost cutting on breakfast since our last visit in 2003. The orange "juice" was disappointing. The scrambled egg made with powder was awful - plastic texture and no taste. Service at breakfast was also terrible, with many tables left uncleared for up to half an hour. Every morning there were people who couldn't find a clean table even though there were often six or seven tables available.
