+ Young reception staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel centrally located

- Rooms inadequately furnished. Rooms not cleaned during our stay. We, and several other visitors were disturbed during all nights by very noisy young men staying in the hotel, but management did nothing to help. Breakfast room couldn't accommodate all residents so delays for breakfast. We were very disappointed with the hotel and will never return.

+ Provided with tea-making facilities in lieu of the inconvenience. Very apologetic. As this was meant to be a 70th birthday treat, it was rather disappointing.

- On arrival we were given a room with a 'broken bed',extremely uncomfortable in a small claustrophobic room, tucked away up a back flight of stairs. After complaining we were moved to another room the next day, which was good. We found out another couple had refused to stay in the first room!

- We booked the 5 bed room, but the manager put us in two separate rooms giving uncosistent and contraddicting explanations

+ The room was nice and big (basement, 6 person room). It was very clean! Service was good a breakfast.

- Checking in took a long time despite the fact that we arrived after 2pm. The bathroom ceiling was a bit low... kept hitting my hand on the ceiling(i'm 1.75m). They should give out a better map online, the map was too general and was not very useful.

+ The private parking availability.
The location in Amsterdam is perfect as you can go wherever you want in the city without the need of a car.

- The room was at the 4th floor without lift.
The room was very small and the furniture was old and not in good state, while on the pictures shown on the site it looks big and comfortable. The sheets were looking old with holes in it.
They had no bar available while it was said on the site that there was one.
No phone in the room, not even an internal one,so whathever you should need, you have to go down(4 floors!!!) to the reception.
The breakfast buffet wasn't very rich, you need to be there before the others if you want to have it complete!!!

+ Breakfast was very good, excellent choice.

- this hotel needs a good revamp, areas were grubby, especially in the bedroom, ie: wall lights dusty, carpet worn badly in areas,& the first impression arriving in the hallway was not good. Overall very disappointed, we have been to Amsterdam 3 times previously & always had very good accommodation.

+ Great breakfasts, couldn't ask for more!
Comfortable beds

- Noisy people in nearby rooms, not much sound barrier in walls and doors.
Found the old end of a joint / cigarette behind radiator!

+ Towels and bed linen changed daily.
Loo roll replaced when it ran out.
TV worked.
Shower/wetroom worked well, (even if it did smell bad)
Location was conveniently close to the train station and central areas.
Staff were friendly.
Breakfast was prompt and had an adequate selection.

- Although the bathroom was clean, a sewage-like smell from the drains persisted and made the room smell aweful.
No Airconditioning, not even a fan, room was stifellingly hot on some days.
Very small room, barely enough space to get around the bed(s)
Double room requested, had 2 singles pushed together (this may be a 'dutch thing, but would've been nice if they were locked together to stop them drifting apart and double sized sheets/blankets would've been nice to), plastic undersheets were uncomfortable, especially on the hot evenings.
General room decor was of poor quality.
Mosquito's living under the bed which came out at night, perhaps a bug spray of the room before visitors arrive would be appreciated.
