- "Brut minimalism" is a strange idea to understand although it takes just a minute to feel at home. Level -1 is not very charming, it looks like you are in the service and laundry area.

+ Was worried about the location but its the best i have stayed in, just out of town but it takes no time to tram it in into central station... This is by far the best hotel i have ever stayed in. IT REALLY IS!
- The art-deco thing is great, but means the toilet can be right in sight of the bed, you have to take apart the wardrobe and it acts like a door, very cool, but a bit of a pain, especially when the magnets don't stick and your unveiled to your partner!!

+ Nice big room, very good value considering how nice it was. A excellent location - within walking distance of the centre, and the trams were good. Very quiet and relaxing. Friendly girl on reception; she gave us a map of Amsterdam when we checked in, and told us all about which trams to get, which was nice. Free internet access was much appreciated too.
- Very few negative points about our stay. The only small points were that the bath leaked, and that our "double" bed was two singles pushed together.

+ Excellent service, very helpful staff. Lovely easy manner and willing to oblige. Enjoyed the aesthetic qualities of the hotel, great design and use of colour/light/space. Tram stop so closeby was a bonus.

Come and stay in the hotel which currently has the most media-coverage! This remarkable hotel offers an experience in itself. Renowned Dutch architects, designers and artists have transformed this monument dating from 1921 in a hotel where many inhabitants of Amsterdam, international artists, tourists and business people feel at home.
The Lloyd Hotel is very well situated: it is near the city centre (direct public transport connections), access from the ring-road is easy and from the rooms lovely views over the fashionable Eastern Docklands area are to be had. The hotel has parking facilities of its own in a parking garage. Lloyd Hotel has a restaurant, a bar, a soundproof music room, a library and even a "corner" shop.
All 116 rooms in the Lloyd Hotel -ranging from one to five stars- offer a different experience. These entail a difference in design, surface area and therefore rate. Much attention has been given to the interior of the rooms. A number of exciting Dutch Designers (Claudy Jongstra, Hella Jongerius, De Bazel, Marcel Wanders, Richard Hutten, to name but a few) have created several of the furniture pieces. The design by Christoph Seyferth ensures that every space has been fully utilised without losing its essence or originality. All rooms offer a view over the water and have specially designed furniture, including the 'Lloyd Table'. Guests are offered the use of a bathrobe free of charge, for their little stroll to the bathroom.

These rooms have a surprising interior, offering plenty of room to take a shower. The designs by MVRDV and Seyferth have led to innovative solutions to use the space at best. Some rooms offer a surprising shower while other rooms have a magnificent view over the water.

These rooms are equipped with furniture from famous contemporary Dutch artists such as Richard Hutten, Ineke Hans and Tjalko Lokhorst. For the bathrooms Bureau Lakenvelder, Atelier van Lieshout and architects MVRDV came up with remarkable solutions: some bathrooms are brightly coloured and are in the middle of the room, other bathrooms seem hidden, but can be folded out.

Some rooms boast original cupboards and come with a bed-in-a-cupboard while others offer atmospheric lighting through the ceiling-high French windows. The most breath taking and spacious rooms of the Lloyd Hotel. All 5 star rooms are different. Some rooms have a gigantic table, other room have a bath in the middle of the room or a specially designed bathroom from Atelier van Lieshout. You can sleep in a bed for eight persons or exercise your vocals on a big concert piano. One thing is sure: it is a room you will never forget.
