- => no possibility to book in advance a room vith view on canal (despite many mails to try to book one, and even if, at the end, I got one, but I knew it only when check in).
=> very poor atmosphere in the corridors / lobby, no charm at all

+ Excellent location and massive room.
- Too expensive for what you got, breakfast was a joke, although the room was huge it was kind of built into the corridor.

+ The location of the hotel is good. Fairly close to major tourist attractions.
Over all this hotel is good, and will go back if there is a chance
- The floor (carpet if I remember correctly) was not very clean. Maybe you clean it daily, but the color and texture of it makes it not so decent.

+ Excellent location. Superb value at the price we paid. Breakfast included which is something of a rarity amongst hotels we looked at & which I consider to be essential befpre setting out for a day's exploring
- Smoking area in front of entrance to breakfast room. Smoking allowed in the bar & therefore have to pass by this to get to reception

+ Good breakfast, great location.
- We had VERY loud pigeons roosting outside our window on the roof just above which woke us up every night and morning.
Also the lobby smelled thickly like smoke. Even though this is common in Europe, there are still measures that can be taken to reduce the intensity of the odor.

+ The standard of the staff was very good. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Night porter.
- A little too expensive for the standard of hotel and especially service. Difficult to get staff to serve at the bar and the bar shuts too early. No meals other than breakfast available.

+ Our first room and our replacement room had direct canal views. Our replacement room was huge! The location was excellent on the most beatiful canal. The breakfast was fresh, plentiful and enjoyable. The rooms were clean. I would recommend it to anyone I know going to Amsterdam!
- The first room we were given was very small and the shower leaked onto the floor. There could have been a bit more 'character' in the rooms. For example the bedspreads didn't look great. With a bit of work the hotel could be made fantastic. I would like to have paid less, but I think the price is probably typical of Amsterdam hotels.
