- I had heard good things about the Golden Tulip hotels in Amsterdam and was disappointed with this particular hotel. Although in a nice residential area, the hotel is a little remote from the major Amsterdam tourist attractions. It also was more expensive than others we have used in Amsterdam. The two rooms we were given had old, uncomfortable beds and overlooked the front entrance. They said since we had booked through the internet on Hotels.com we could not have canal view rooms. Because of distance, to go anywhere required the use of the tram (about 5-10 minute walk) or taxi. Checkout was disorganized because the hotel personnel allowed people to cut in front of the line, even though several were waiting. For a similar cost, I would recommend the Marriot near Leidesplein or others closer to the Museum vicinity.

+ THE HOTEL IS LOVELY AS WELL AS THE STAFF, EXCEPT AS MENTIONED ABOVE.
- THE DISTANCE FROM THE DAM IS NOT WALKABLE AND THE TRAM IS BLOCKS AWAY. AIR CONDITIONING NOT GREAT. THE DINING ROOM MORNING STAFF WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO JUST HAVE COFFEE AND JUICE, ONLY WANTED ME TO HAVE THE BUFFET AT 22E WHICH I REALLY DON'T EAT BREAKFAST. I WAS TOLD NO, I COULD NOT STAY IN THERE.
