Park Hotel Amsterdam

Traditional, majestic city hotel, has been recently (2008) beautifully redecorated into one of Amsterdam boutique hotels. First you are welcome by the wide, nicely lit modern lobby, with big windows and a lot of light inside. The hotel rooms may seem small, but they are nicely designed with dark wenga wood, good double beds, modern mattresses and beautiful yet simple sheets, plasma TV screen, good lamps, minibar and a small safe in your room, plus clean, modern bathroom. No bath – only shower, but a real rainshower, with big showerhead splashing the water all over. Park Hotel has also a good French restaurant and the hotel bar.

Combine all this with the Park Hotel location, with most important museums as well as Vondelpark and P.C. Hooftstraat, most elegant shopping street in Amsterdam within 5 minutes walk and the Dam square within 15 minutes, a tram and a bus stop just across the street and canal cruise boats departing just in front of the hotel and you will understand the Park Hotel popularity.

Taking into account its four stars, the Park Hotel rates are reasonable, but be careful with extra charges: telephone, mini-bar, Internet (only in public areas), breakfast (€ 25) even child care are there, but they all mean a surcharge on your bill. Two more details: the hotel has a lift, but it does not reach its last floor and sorry - pets are not allowed.

Overall Park Hotel is a mixture of modern and new with the traditional. Its location seems its main value. This is a perfect lodging to visit Amsterdam and be able to return to your room several times during the day. You may even jog in the Vondelpark before breakfast.
