Piet has retained the original state of Claes Claesz, with its walls and windows standing untouched. The interior matches its cosy 1920’s ambience within the soft light of the chandelier and candles. The dining room is elegantly set with old furnishings and floor length draperies on the windows.

Their menu is created using traditional Dutch ingredients, which the Chef prepares adapting classic recipes to his preference. The a la carte menu changes every 3-4 months, where a three-course meal costs 27.50 euro. Piet tries to make everything from bread right through to ice-cream in his kitchen as much as possible.

Entertainment is also not afar. Apart from the Jazz and Blues soundtracks playing in the background, every Friday and Saturday they have live piano or guitar music contributing to the authentic personality of Claes Claesz. Once a month Piet arranges a musical dinner, where cabaret performances take to the stage in-between your meal.

Most unique is every third Monday of the month, when the restaurant dismantles its robes and becomes a Bar for the night. From 8.30-11pm you can enjoy a series of short performances on stage with a few drinks. It’s advised to view their website for exact dates of upcoming events.
