Imagine Film Festival in Amsterdam
Founded in 1984 by Jan Doense, an independent film director and lover of films in a bad taste, this festival has been previously called Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival. Since 2009 under its present name, the Imagine Film Festival is an important ten days long international event specialized in fantasy, horror and science-fiction. Each festival has its special theme, in 2015 the theme is “We Love Robots”.
Imagine Film Festival is a member of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation uniting 22 film festivals held in 15 countries, with a total attendance of almost half million spectators.
Time Capsule
The Imagine festival organizes each year a competition for the 30-seconds long festival trailer directed at young film makers called Time Capsule. If you are interested in participation, look at their website for the conditions.
The feel
What was a local Amsterdam fun event, became an important in its genre international film festival, well organized, with gala’s, awarding prizes and first of all offering an exciting program showing not only new films, features and short, but also reminding old fantastic motion pictures. It is held in the Amsterdam EYE Film Institute, one of the most interesting film museums of the world, in perfect projection conditions and in the middle of astonishing architecture.
