Theo Thijssen Museum in Amsterdam

Thijssen Museum BuildingA small and pleasantly arranged museum dedicated to the popular Dutch writer and teacher Theo Thijssen (1879-1943) and Amsterdam of his times. The museum displays some of his books, popular in the Netherlands, and evokes the atmosphere of the city a century ago.

The Museum feels like organized at home, as it is arranged in two rooms of the house, which is a modern reconstruction of the one in which Theo Thijssen was born. The original house has literally fallen apart twenty years ago. English speaking staff will provide you with explanations as the exhibit is in Dutch. Nonetheless, a place with a local taste, for Amsterdam history fanatics.
