Thai restaurant near Nieuwmarkt is well furnished with wooden tables and chairs, each adorned with bamboo mats, and menus. The walls too reflect a historical importance, through the ancient Thai figures painted gold and black. The atmosphere is softened within by lanterns lit at the base of each artwork.

Elephants are also a prominent feature, as evident through the elephant head statue protruding on the wall. However you are brought back into present day with modern Thai music playing in the background.

Song Kwae's menu presents a wide range of entrees, meals, desserts and drinks, of Thai origin. These include meat, fish, prawn and chicken curries as well as North Eastern specialities, and sticky rice for dessert.

Their kitchen is staffed by Thai Chefs, who prepare your meal with authentic Thai spices and vegetables, delivered twice a week from Thailand. Their main concern is that nothing but good quality food arrives hot to your table.

Thai Restaurant Song Kwae operates on a drop in service, where you are invited to sit, eat and enjoy your visit. The kitchen itself closes at 10:30pm, but they welcome you to sit until midnight if need be. However it is advised that as nights can get a bit crowded, that families with young children come to dine earlier.

During the summer this cosy eatery is transformed as they open up their doors completely so that the restaurant literally starts from the terrace. Song Kwae is an ideal place to enjoy a good sized meal, at reasonable prices with friends or family.
