Eetcafe De Groene Olifant in Amsterdam

First established in1880, De Groene Olifant is kept much in its original state and furnishings, the bar itself has seen through the Second World War. Above the bar are elephant figurines given to the café by their customers, fitting the name of the café meaning The Green Elephant. You have the choice to sit at the bar, or slightly upstairs for privacy. Their terrace in particular is quite spacious and has a contrasting ambience to the enclosed eetcafe suitable for a cosy yet social meal.

The lunch menu comprises of diverse sandwiches, soups and salads. Dinner commences at 6pm and contains everything from Popadom Curry to Ribeye Provencial. Meals are reasonably priced between 10 and 17 euro with plenty of options from their seasonal menus or specials board. At De Groene Olifant Fety prepares all meals fresh and to a higher standard than what is expected.

Staff are very friendly and take charge of background music to create a relaxed and casual space for you. You may however prefer to observe the peaceful and fresh surroundings their terrace has to offer, which is a sunny meeting point for many locals.
