Antiekmarkt De Looier Amsterdam
De Looier is an antique market, which takes almost the whole block of houses between Looiersgracht and Elandsgracht – all of them under one roof, as this is one of the few covered markets in Amsterdam. Warm in winter, dusty in the summer, this place seems a paradise for all kind of collectors: antique furniture, old paintings, used watches, old jewelry, silverware, toys, curiosa. Complicated narrow corridors will lead you through 73 stands with antiques and curiosa. Additionally on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday private people may rent a small tables and trade with their collections.
It might happen during the week, which the stand you are interested in is shortly closed. A special service from the reception desk will help you out. The same goes for the objects exhibited in one of the 95 showcases. It has been accepted at De Looier, to negotiate the prices.
The feel: Cozy, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Moderate prices, but not many objects of real value. Oddities and loads of objects just 20 years old, but selected with a good eye. De Looier is interesting to visit, especially if you are tired of visiting museums.
